Springfield man killed in a pedestrian crash in Illinois

A 57-year-old man tragically died Friday, April 28, in a fatal pedestrian crash in Illinois, Sangamon County police said.
The incident occurred when a car smashed into a pedestrian at Veterans Parkway and West Washington Street intersection in Springfield. The severely injured man was immediately taken to the HSHS St. John’s Hospital. Sadly, he died at 9:36 PM from his injuries.
The autopsy is scheduled for Monday, with the identity of the deceased not disclosed until the family agrees. Coroner’s office and Springfield Police Department are investigating the fatal accident. More details should be available after the autopsy.
